At MAPLES, we utilize various groudtruthes and geophysical data to understand the origin of geohazards. Recent effort includes mapping and dating the debris avalanche at Kick’em Jenny Volcano (the most active submarine volcano in the Caribbean, a potential tsunamigenic submarine landslide) as a part of the collaborative TREET project (lead by MS student Tyler Ruchala in collaboration with Tominaga, and Drs. Steve Carey (Univ. Rhode Island) and Frederik Dondin (Univ. West Indies)).
